A new circuit of hiking trails to discover more about the mountain landscape
lying within the shadow of the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa Range.
This circuit was the conceived by 6 Aosta Valley hut keepers who joined forces to create a new and original hiking tour within the shadow of the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa Range.
The tour takes a total of 7 days, starting and finishing at Champoluc in Val d'Ayas.
- The Tour is divided into daily stages lasting on average 5/7 hours, following mountain paths that pose no greater difficulty than several short stretches over stony ground and scree. It is suitable for walkers in good physical shape who are familiar with mountain trekking.
- Depending on the time available or your level of fitness, the Tour can be split into two sections, each with two circular walks that include 2 overnight hut stays (3 days, 2 nights). The first (departing from Gressoney-Saint-Jean) includes Arp and Vieux Crest huts; the second takes you to Arp and Alpenzù huts.
- A 4-day version (3 nights) has also been thought out with stops off at Ferraro, Grand Tournalin and L'Ermitage Huts.
- This tour gives you the chance to discover three little-known valleys:
› Gressoney Valley featuring the Lys glacier, Lyskamm and Gnifetti peaks
› Val d'Ayas including Verra Glacier, Roccia Nera, Castor and Pollux peaks
› Valtournenche and the pyramidal Matterhorn.
- Supper and accommodation are provided at a different hut every night; this is a great opportunity to sample traditional Aosta Valley cuisine and DOC wines.
